Simple Ponderings

I am a simple man, but sometimes engage in deep ponderings or abstractions. You might find some of those ponderings here.

Have you ever noticed that guys are mortified of getting intimate with each other? I know what most of you are thinking after that last question, and no I don't mean in a physical way. What I mean is that guys are scared to talk about anything that delves too deep into their own lives. Oh, sure, they will talk about sports, cars, or women easisly enough, but when it comes right down to it this is all surface level chit-chat. Even in church, one of the most accepting places on earth, men still are afraid to do more than go past the surface level in conversations. Usually, even when a guy has a close friend, he won't go too deep in the way of confiding in that friend.

One of the best feelings I have ever felt is after a deep conversation with another guy. To hear that the other guy is struggling with some of the same things as I am is quite conforting. I have heard it said that confession is good for the soul. I can confidently tell you that it is true. This is one of the reasons that I believe homosexuality -more to come on this topic in a later post- is so rampart in our society. When guys stop being intimate with each other emotionally, it gets channeled into other avenues. So guys, the next time someone asks you how you are doing, don't be afraid to go beyond the surface and let them know how you really are.
